Youth group

An abundant week, part 1

Last Saturday, the day before Palm Sunday, my youth group had a one-day, stay-in-the-church retreat. We started by making team flags: the Hello Kitties, the Biohazard Vikings, the United Cow Pants, and ... oh, dear, I forget! [Thank you, Susan: the Super Flamethrowers, of course!] We made boats and had a contest to see which boat would stay afloat with the most weight—while Vicki and I (co-leaders) sang, "It was sad! {it was sad!} It was sad {too bad!} It was sad when that great ship went down"—to the bemusement of our teens! We decorated cars and had a speed race, as well as a design contest (the Hello Kitties won that). We studied some Biblical passages about running the race, and throwing off every weight that hinders. And we had a wonderful time!
