Kickball The Chinese church invited another local Chinese church for an evangelistic talk this evening, prior to the area retreat this weekend. This meant we had a bunch of extra kids for youth group.
We started with four-square in the room, but it got so hot we went outside and played kickball in the parking lot. It's fascinating to watch the kids working together, setting up rules and boundaries, being polite and welcoming to the outsiders, and generally having a great time!
About ten minutes before the end of the evening—by which time it was so dark no one could see the paper plates used as bases—we went back inside. I asked them, "Name me someone from the Bible that you would like on your kickball team, and tell me why." Here are some answers:
Jesus—He already knows the rules; He's powerful.
the angel in Revelation—he's big and fast
Solomon—he's a king; he's wise
Noah—he's strong enough to build an ark
Peter—sometimes clumsy is good
the talking donkey—donkeys are fast, and they can kick!
King Herod—he's aggressive
Paul—he talked about running the race
the three wisemen—they knew how to make a plan
