Boulder Footwash What a day yesterday was! Four members of the youth group and I worked with about 50 other volunteers to serve the homeless community at the traditional Boulder Footwash.
The day was quite brisk, with a lazy wind (it's too lazy to go around, so it goes right through you). Nonetheless, we dyed about 10 dozen eggs, with the assistance of children there with their parents. Several of the guests enjoyed the process, also.
Then we cleaned up and moved inside (whew!), where we handed out the eggs we'd colored, plastic eggs stuffed with candy, and little wooden crosses. We were prepared to babysit children of the volunteers, but the families were serving as a unit. So we chatted with the guests, helped serve food, and did clean-up. In addition, I sang with the band, which was a privilege as well as being a tremendous amount of fun!
Of course, I spent most of the four-and-a-half hours we were there on my feet, and came home sore and exhausted. A two-hour nap helped a lot, but my feet are miserable this morning, and my back, hip, and shoulders not much better. A small price to pay for working with the Lord in such a glorious way.
And today is Palm Sunday. At church the children's classes will come in, waving palm branches, while we all sing praise songs to our living Lord. And then ... the youth will perform "GodSpell." I can't wait!
