Operation Christmas Child Today I drove to Mardel Christian Supply (in south Denver, almost an hour from home) to deliver the youth group's Christmas Child boxes. They're supposed to be wrapped, but that's almost impossible with a plastic box, so we put Christmas stickers all over the boxes and lids. (Plastic boxes can later be used for the family to carry water in.)
The KPOF (AM 910) team was at Mardel all day, collecting boxes and greeting people. I got a cart and loaded my dozen boxes into it, balancing them with care as I trundled over the parking lot to the door, where I asked another shopper to hold the door open so I could get in.
I was immediately greeted by Denise, who knows me from past radio interviews. Roy was next, then Roxie, then Gordy. I saw other familiar name tags from my favorite radio station, too. Denise took my cart to the back, where volunteers were packing boxes into cartons, and cartons into an enormous truck.
I have friends at Mardel, too, from various book signings over the past year or so. So much fun to greet all these people again!
I heard Denise on the radio as I drove home, saying that the feeling at Mardel today was a foretaste of heaven, meeting and greeting and hugging old and new friends in a joyful and Christian environment!
