Laughing hysterically Youth group tonight. The agenda was simple: fill the Christmas Child boxes, and practice the play the kids are producing for the Christmas party.
Simple ... yeah ... uh huh ...
First, the boxes:
"Can we keep the combs?"
"Mine has four toy cars, but it's for a girl!"
"Oh, cool, can I have that?"
"Oh, isn't that cute!?"
"I have pencils but no pencil sharpener!"
"I have erasers but no pencils!"
"Hey, where'd you get the soap! I need some, too!"
We decorated the boxes with stickers, which ended up all over the place, including the edge pieces, which look very nice on shirts.
And then, the play. Written by Karen, 14, an excellent writer. With a ... wry ... sense of humor ...
The newly adopted boy has been sent to boarding school because he's been rude to his new family. His roommate is Fernando, referred to by the principal as "Fern." (No wonder the kid causes trouble!)
The homeless man, singing Jamaican Christmas carols, is Mr. Pansey.
The family lives in Pleasantville, but unpleasantness is coming their way, which will "disrupt the lives of the good-doers of Pleasantville."

And I'm sure, when the Lord is singing over us, twirling and spinning with joy (Zephaniah), He is also laughing. Laughter is healing. Laughter filled the evening! Praise the Lord!
