Lighted water? We were talking about the Beatitudes in youth group this evening. They're not rules, Karen explained; they're more like guidelines. Goals for us to strive for, Samuel added.
Then we grouped into the kitchen, where I tried several "science-type" activities involving a two-liter bottle. Most were abject failures. But one—and by God's grace, it was the one with a spiritual application!—finally did work, because the kids told me how to do it right.
Ready? Empty a plastic bottle, and hammer a nail-hole in the side, fairly low. Fill the bottle with water. (Do this in a sink, or outside ... trust me on this!) Turn the lights out, and shine a laser pointer across the inside of the bottle, aiming at the nail hole. The water spouting out the hole will be lighted. Both water and light curve downward together!
And I told the kids that I'm the bottle of water. God shines His light into me. And the stream of water that spouts out at other people is filled with God's light!
