“The Very Heart of Worship”—Cypress Ministries Wow. Let me say that again: WOW! What a great book! The publisher sent me a copy of this book, asking that I write a review. As you know if you follow my blog posts, I've not had good luck doing this so far. Well, let me tell you: my luck has changed! In fact, there wasn't any luck in this book at all—it's all grace!
This is a beautiful study of some of the names and attributes of the living God. It is based on passages from Nehemiah, solidly rooted in Scripture throughout, and filled with the author's personal applications, written in a conversational and personal style. I read, and I learned, and I worshiped.
I spotted a couple of typos and one awkward sentence, which is far less than one finds in most commercially published books. They crossed my radar and were ignored, because I was involved in the meat of the book, in the heart of the message. What a blessing! I recommend it unreservedly! In the words of the author:
"God loves you, God cares for you, and God has said that you are His people. God is willing, God is able, and God is waiting. Whoever you need God to be for you, GOD IS" (p. 227).
