Signing books My, what fun I had today! I was signing books at Mardel Christian Supply, during their "25% off all books, Bibles, and CDs" sale. The store was full, but in waves—there would be people cramming in through the doors and jamming the checkout lines. Then, half an hour later, the place would be empty and quiet. Then another wave would start ...
I sold three RV Tourists, two Cup of Comfort Devotional for Women, one His Forever, and {drumroll, please} six copies of Cup of Comfort Book of Prayer. Very exciting and rewarding! Okay that's not much compared to famous authors, but this is just me, and I'm real pleased!
I also met and talked with a lot of nice people, including a beginning writer interested in the Colorado Christian Writer's Conference in May, and a woman who's been published consistently in a newsletter for a dozen years.
One woman told me, "I already have all your books!"
"You don't have this one!" I laughed, pointing to Book of Prayer, which just came out. So she bought a copy, along with an RV Tourist, to boot!
I met RVers ... RV-wannabes ... eager readers ... reluctant readers ... family members dragged along to shop at Mardel. A gentleman with a hand-carved cane, a gorgeous thing. Several friends came by, but most of my sales were to strangers. I ran out of cookies, gave away pens and business cards, and had a lovely time talking about God's work in my life.
And that, of course, is why I write. Not to show off. Not to amuse or distract myself. But to share what God's doing for me, and offer hope that He'll do it for you, too!
