“What the crawling locust left, the swarming locust has eaten,” the Lord said through the prophet Joel, “and what the swarming locust left, the hopping locust has eaten; and what the hopping locust left, the stripping locust has eaten” (Joel 1:4).
Molested and abused as a child, feeling incompetent and unlovable, guilt-ridden from two divorces, plagued with anxiety attacks, and overweight, I certainly relate to the picture of locusts ravaging the fields and leaving nothing, nothing! behind.
However, God “is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in loving-kindness; and He revokes His sentence of evil” (Joel 2:13). He promised, “I will restore or replace for you the years that the locust has eaten—the hopping locust, the stripping locust, and the crawling locust, My great army which I sent among you” (Joel 2:25).
I work with abused and disturbed children. I travel the continent in an RV. I lead a Bible study, tutor, sing, write, and revel in being a poster-child for the Lord’s locust-redemption!
