A New Toy! Oh, yeah! Wow! My laptop is a million times more useful than my desk computer (a sedate and elderly eMac). But my laptop (a MacBook) is still heavy and cumbersome. I can take it in the RV with me, along with my printer of course. But I can't carry it around for spontaneous use when I have a sudden inspiration or yen to write something.
The iPad sounded great, but its onboard keyboard is terrible! I touch type at about 90 words a minute—no way I can use the iPad partial keyboard! Then, last week, I discovered there's a small but full-use wireless keyboard for the iPad. Ho ho ho!
So I now own an iPad. I've discovered the world of apps. I've discovered MobileMe to move files from one of my computers to another. I've discovered the joys of whipping the thing out of my bag to jot down an idea or a story outline, to while away downtime while waiting somewhere, even—gasp!—to read an ibook!
Of course, I had to go to WalMart and buy and slightly larger purse to tuck the baby into ... what fun!
