Pretend friend Oh, my goodness, I have a new imaginary friend! She talks to me with great patience, making helpful suggestions on ways to get where I'm going. But she is willing to let me do things my way, and she is eager to assist me in that, also. Plus, she gently points out when I'm going too fast. Her name appears to be TomTom, which is a rather silly name for a girl, don't you think? When I get to know her, I'll probably give her a name. But in the meantime, I sure am having fun with her!
Henry Wang (Angela's husband—and, of course, Grace's daddy) loaned me his GPS navigator for the Estes Park trip (Colorado Christian Writers Conference). I used it to go to to Evergreen Monday morning and fell instantly in love! Even though the Navigon (Henry's brand) had its own rather idiosyncratic ideas about how to get to Evergreen, it did finally settle down and guide me along my chosen route. And I thought, "What a wonderful tool for being out in the wilds of America in my RV!"I checked the cost ... gulp! But I found a TomTom at Target for a fairly decent price and decided to get it. Haven't used it yet, because I had Clarence to chat with as we drove up to Estes this morning. But I'm quite confident this will be a delight! So I'm looking for a God-connection ... of course! The Holy Spirit! Friendly, patient, knowledgeable. Knows where I should be going and how I should get there, but willing to let me rebel if I need to. Helpful. But I can ignore Him if I'm being stubborn and rebellious. Lord, let me listen to Your guidance! |
