First full day of fall Since fall officially started Sunday morning (3:41 a.m. Mountain Time, I am told), today is the first full day. And what a start our autumn has had! Rain almost all day, stopping occasionally just to tease us, then starting up again. Hail this morning. Cold and gray and gloomy, inside and out. And, this evening, a little leak in my roof—and praise the Lord it was near the computer, so I heard it before major damage was done!
"Good sleeping weather," my mother would have said. Good reading weather, too. So I finished Job's Niece by Grace Livingston Hill and got halfway through Angela Hunt's The Note, which Hallmark is turning into a Christmas movie.
I'd forgotten everything about it except the plot summary: plane crash; passenger's note to a child is found; reporter tries to find the intended recipient. Couldn't recall the deeper meaning at all.
Well, now I know why I couldn't recall it. It's called blocking, and it's a defense mechanism. It is quite clear this book is going to be chock full of father-daughter stuff, which pushes a lot of my buttons.
I'm sure the Lord has a reason for me to be reading this now ...
