Remembering At house church Communion this evening, we talked about remembering. When God remembers something, or asks us to remember, He's expecting action. When the thief on the cross asked Jesus, "Remember me," he was expecting Jesus to do more than have stray thoughts.
We sang the old Sunday school song, "God Is So Good!" I asked the people in the group to think of what God's done for them, and we'd put those comments in as verses. So we sang, "God is so good!" And then, "God comforts me!" Ruth wanted, "Peace that passes understanding," and wouldn't let me boil it down to four syllables (God gives me peace), so we doubled the notes and crammed it all in. Later she wanted, "He takes me by the right hand" ... a trouble-maker, that woman!
There were lots of requests for verses, and it was a great activity! Then we took Communion, "do this in remembrance of Me." Thank You, Lord!
