From the furry side

Our morning elk Today is the last day of the Colorado Christian Writers Conference in Estes Park. Which, this morning of May 15, is totally fogged in—gray and cold and forbidding, with no hint of sun or mountains in the foreseeable future.
Sallie thinks it's a beautiful day, however, because she has had a morning elk, right outside the windows of the RV.
The tourist season hasn't started yet, and the local elk wander the campground at will. They're obviously glad the mid-week snows have (mostly) melted, so they can graze freely. We've seen herds of them, families with spring young, and yearlings with furry antlers.
Sallie isn't sure if they're dangerous predators who need to be chased away, or if they're big, furry friends who would love to play with her (like her guinea pig buddy at our PetSmart). Either way, she barks wildly at them, rushing from window to window, pawing at the glass, wagging her tail.
The elk strolls behind the RV and appears on the other side, staring down her long nose at this small nuisance in disdain: Do you have a problem?
Sallie is thrilled.
