Up and down Memo from Dolphin: People are so strange sometimes! This morning Mama insisted on going to some piece of scenery called Palo Duro State Park (Texas). As if anyone cares about a hole in the ground! So we drove all over, and ended up in this tiny parking lot. And what does Mama do then? Puts the leash on the dog and hops out into the heat! Silly woman.
After a bit she comes back with the dog. But she doesn’t stay, just unhooks Lady’s leash and goes off again. Lady said there was nothing in particular to see—a long, deep hole with jagged, colorful sides … no food, or friends, or animals to chase. As I said, two-leggers (=people) are just odd
Well, pretty soon she comes back, flushed and out of breath. But does she do something sensible, like stretch out on the dashboard for a nap? Nope! She tosses a bunch of books into her daypack, the books that feature my beautiful being on the cover. And off she goes again! A long time later she’s back again, red-faced and gasping from the steep hike to the Visitor Center, but tickled pink that the state park gift shop bought all the copies she was carrying, and wants her to ship more when we get home. I suppose it’s nice that people will see my picture, but other than that there’s nothing to get excited about that I can see.
Oh! Look! It’s a fly in the window! Excuse me … I have to catch it! Bye!
