From the furry side

cough … sniffle … whimper … I'm sick! I don't like being sick, especially this close to Christmas! Not to mention that I have a book signing tomorrow, and at the moment I have no voice ... So I've spent most of the day lying around being whiny, moving from sofa to bed and back. And a jaunt to the doctor's, where I got a prescription for an antibiotic. I'm drinking lots of tea, and being grumpity (as Junie B. Jones says).
I've gotten three intriguing packages in the mail this week. I can't unload the wrapped contents under my tree because of Dolphin, but I've opened the boxes, anyway, so I can admire the contents. My St Louis friend, Anne, uses crinkly, fascinating wrapping paper, and Dolphin has been entranced! And today, while I was too sick to do much more than lie on the sofa and protest feebly, Dolphin extracted a crinkly, rattly gold package and proceeded to open it. Such fun! When I got up, he presented me with a package so much opened that it seemed best to complete the task. And in it was a pair of "sleep socks," which is what I've been craving last night and today to keep my toeses warm while I'm so sick! Ho ho ho!
By supper time I was so tired of myself that I dragged out the gifts I bought for the foster kids I sponsor through Boulder County Social Services and spent an hour wrapping and tagging, determined that I was going to be seasonally jolly no matter what! With Christmas CDs playing in the background and Dolphin attempting to swipe smaller packages, I kept myself distracted for a while, anyway. Now I'm headed back to bed, I think, but ... my, I'm glad God loves me even when I'm being grumbly!
