Well, I spent the spring and fall sending emails and making plans. Somehow my plans never seem to quite make the grade—my mama (you may know her as Elsi) stumbles around and foils my excellent plans far too often. She's been busy at her school today, and is tired tonight, and I'm taking advantage of this to get online. Quickly, before she comes in: Aunt Jane, thanks for the grass. Why doesn't it taste like meat? Aunt Vicki and Aunt Shannie, please come over and pat my tummy! Friend Reep, We need to start planning for next summer. We will conquer; we will be victorious—the team of Dolphin, saber-toothed tiger extraordinaire, and Reep, ptero-eagle to the max, will be unbeatable. In the meantime, keep working on the opposable thumb problem, okay?

  I find it a good tactic to placate the featherless/furless two-leggers—when it doesn't interfere with more important activities, that is. They are so out-of-touch—mine is totally unaware that we are communicating in this manner!
